Last month at my gym Northwest Crossfit, they held a Total Lift event. The purpose is to push yourself to the max and lift as much weight as possible for one rep. Over the last few months I've been really addicted to increasing that one rep max. I used to think it was stupid and pointless but I've really found that it's not about how much weight you lift, it's the fact that you're pushing yourself to the max. You're squeezing every last ounce of energy out of your body to not just push it to the limit, but to failure. How often do you do this outside the gym?
Think if we pushed for a one rep max in our careers, passions or relationships. Not just once, but every week! If you literally tried your absolute hardest to have the best relationship with your partner. Or, gave everything you had to create something amazing within your career. Pushing so hard that you fail. I know for me, I don't do this outside the gym. I also know I'm going to start now.
Big ups to all the athletes who absolutely crushed it that day! Whether it was a 524lb deadlift or a 100lb backsquat, the fact is that is was YOU pushing YOURSELF further than before.
