Local Rapper Diffuses a Bomb?

I'm sure you've all seen the movie The Hurt Locker. If not, what you're about to see may not make much sense. I'm also sure most of you have seen the promo videos I've put together for Ripynt over the last six months promoting his two Ep's "On Second Thought" Vol 1 and 2. If not, you can watch them here and here. This is Ripynt's third EP release which raps wraps up his 3 EP plan for 2011. All really solid projects and all FREE! You can download them here. It's always a pleasure working with this dude because he's super open to my creative direction. He juiced up the dialogue while I focused on making this as Hollywood as possible and I think this is my favorite of the three.

Think we missed anything? Do you love it? Let us know in the comment box below!

Oh and if you can name the two people who are on the radios in the beginning, I'll hook you up with a framed surprise photo and a disposable camera! Go! I'll give you a hint, they both rap.

On Set with Ripynt and Griff J

The other day my buddy Griff J (photographer/film maker) asked me to help out with a scene in his latest project with Ripynt. Griff has been shooting a music video for Ripynt's song "Take it to the Top" off of his latest album "Re-Inventing Poetics." My part was to stand in as a photographer taking some snaps of Rip while he spits the line "and pose for some photos". Since I was there with all my gear set up, I figured I may as well snap away.

We had a good time and it was cool to be with these dudes for the last scene needed for the project. I could definitely feel some relief and relaxation after "that's a wrap" was said by Griff. The video is rumored to be debuted at a show on November 12th in which Ripynt is opening up for for Keith Murray at Haley's in Everett Wa. As soon as it's released I will post it up on this here blog.

For now, here are some of my favorite snaps from the shoot.

Rippin it...

ripyntfinals-024 I got the chance to work with local emcee Ripynt this past week. I must say, he was probably the funnest musician I have worked with so far. You musicians need to step your social game up and have some fun on these photo shoots!

Ripynt just released his sophmore album Reinventing Poetics which has recieved some pretty solid reviews locally. I had the chance to listen to the album while editing the photos and it will spend some time on the ipod for sure.

Below is a slide show of the shoot. Click the 4 arrows at the bottom right to view in full screen.
