My First Commercial!

Recently I was hired by Real Self to shoot a commercial. There was a lot of planning and preproduction involved here. I couldn't believe how long it took us to write a 7 line script! Our goal was to keep it short, provide a little bit of shock and make people want to find out more. There are some CRAZY things going on in the medical field that I had no idea about! When I first met with these guys, I was blown away with what some doctors are doing out there. It was pretty cool to learn all about it.

This was my first crack at having an audio guy (Adam Wygle on the mic) and it wasn't easy getting good sound. Things like the ventilation system which couldn't be turned off really made it hard to get good sound. We did the best we could and overall, I'm pretty damn happy with how it came out.

What do you think? Does the message come through? Do you get what we're trying to say here? Is it too long? Too short? Feedback would be HIGHLY appreciated as this is my first commercial and would really like to know what you think.

Local Rapper Diffuses a Bomb?

I'm sure you've all seen the movie The Hurt Locker. If not, what you're about to see may not make much sense. I'm also sure most of you have seen the promo videos I've put together for Ripynt over the last six months promoting his two Ep's "On Second Thought" Vol 1 and 2. If not, you can watch them here and here. This is Ripynt's third EP release which raps wraps up his 3 EP plan for 2011. All really solid projects and all FREE! You can download them here. It's always a pleasure working with this dude because he's super open to my creative direction. He juiced up the dialogue while I focused on making this as Hollywood as possible and I think this is my favorite of the three.

Think we missed anything? Do you love it? Let us know in the comment box below!

Oh and if you can name the two people who are on the radios in the beginning, I'll hook you up with a framed surprise photo and a disposable camera! Go! I'll give you a hint, they both rap.

How to Lose a Job and Gain Fans

My good friend Bob aka Dyslexic aka Bobby Tambourine got fired the other day. You know, the guy who has a show tonight at the Nectar in Fremont and made this video? Now he could have done a lot of things after getting fired, but this video below was at the top of his list before a long night of sulking. Personally I think Bob would make a kick ass marketer. Most people would stress out after getting fired and contemplate even performing yet Bob rises to the top and increases his audience turnout. Amazing. We all have something to learn from this guy. Trust me. He’s on to something and I’ll be keeping a close eye on this character and keeping you posted. I’ll be there tomorrow night. You should too. I mean, this guy is now homeless jobless and all his tweets are sent from the bus now. The show is at The Highdive in Fremont and starts at 9:30pm.

Bob sent this to the entire restaurant’s email list after he heard the news. Please share this and help prevent Bob from becoming a freeway off ramp patron.

Gulp: The Worlds Largest Stop Motion Video

In attempt to start filling the blog with more than just what I've been up to, I'm trying to add other stuff that inspires or just plain entertains. I stumbled upon this tonight and I'm blown away! Stop Motion films always boggle my mind. I never quite get it so it was super cool that they did a behind the scenes video of how they pulled it off. Be sure to watch both videos. It's incredible how much work went into this. Not to mention, this was all shot on a cell phone camera!!! I will definitely be trying my hand at this soon...

Video: Sep-a-ra-tion

About a month ago my buddy Taylor and I went up to Stevens Pass to shoot some park photography. We got up there and it was super hard and crazy fast. After one run, we went back to the car to grab our helmets. After 3 runs, Taylor decided it was time to hit the park. After that run, we had to go the medic followed by the ER because Taylor separated his shoulder going off some super jump in the snowboard park. Here is the footage documenting that day. Unfortunately there is not a single snowboarding scene in this but it is pretty entertaining none the less.
