A few months back I was having coffee with a soon to be friend, Ben Gilbert at WeWork. Right as we started to dive into adventure talk, the fire alarm goes off and we're forced to squeeze together into the stairway and make a run for the rainy streets. Of course it was a drill so there was no danger but it was during this time I met a man by the name of Chris Kaimmer.
Chris knew Ben so Ben made a quick intro. I immediately loved what Chris was doing with his non-profit startup, Woza. In a nutshell, he takes kids from the states on soccer immersion trips to places like Africa and Costa Rica to learn from other cultures and ultimately play a lot of soccer. The funds from these trips help build communities, fields and programs in the areas they visit. It's so freaking cool.
Not long after that intro, Chris and I got together and I decided I'd really like to help him with his movement. I was able to give Chris some pointers for capturing some video while on the road and he did a fantastic job. We shot the interview down at Star Fire Sports Arena which was really cool to see.
Check out the video and spread the word if you think you know someone who would be interested. I'm super excited to continue this relationship and am planning on going on the road with these guys next summer to help capture some stories in other parts of the world.
Moral of the story is, go have coffee with people and welcome the fire drills that ensue.
